The Manuscript of My Life

School's Out

My last day of teaching for this semester was on Friday and I left the classroom with just a touch of sadness. I have spent 3 1/2 months with "my girls" and have gotten to know them pretty well during that time. They set out for their practicum on Monday for two weeks and then have two weeks more instruction after that before they graduate and move on with their lives. More than a few of them had separation anxiety on Thursday and Friday when they walked out the classroom door, but I gave them all warm encouragement and hugs and sent them on their way. I am such a mother! LOL...They had a little party for me on Thursday with food, non-alcoholic champagne, and presents, which was very lovely. I learned as much from them as I hope they learned from me and will treasure this experience for a long time. This teaching time was a rare opportunity as a "sub" usually only gets a day here and there and no long-term involvement with the class, so this was a special gift, which I did appreciate. I have already been approached for some random dates in April and May for two other classes, so it will be nice to keep my foot in the door.

Now that being said, I am also very glad to be finished. I have let many things slide during my time at school and now have to pick up the pieces of my life and get organized. It will be nice to get back to my routine of working at home, walking every day and visiting with the friends I have had to put on the back burner for a while. Hopefully they will still be talking to me!

Donna and I have many things to organize too for our trip to California at the end of April. We are driving down again with assistance from my ex sister-in-law and I am really looking forward to a nonworking vacation. It's been a LONG while since I have had one of those. It's time.

I will be double posting here and efx3 for those of you who follow my more often than not lame words. I know things are all set up for another year, but it still makes me nervous not to have a back up. Hopefully now that I am home full time again I will have time to post more often.

Cam - we are going to Newport Beach. Looking forward to getting there, but the trip down and back will be fun as well. Hope the weather is good!

Hey I hope maybe we can hook up on your way down or back. I know you drive not too far off from me- I can always head to Modesto and meet up with the traveling Wilburys.
Let me know what your plans are. Hopefully you will come by on a weekend as I can't miss work darn it. Let me know ok Laurie?
I would love to talk to you about the teaching gig. was this at a community college or a high school?
